About Joy Thacker M.Ed., NCC

Are you uncomfortable with your negative feelings? Do you have difficulty trusting yourself, or often minimize your difficult experiences? This can all be quite painful. These disparaging thoughts and feelings are fairly common. When you dismiss yourself in this way, it can lead to depression, anxiety, loneliness, relational and physical pain.

I approach therapy from the perspective of IFS (Internal Family Systems) and attachment based theory. Which means I will come along side you in a collaborative non-judgmental way moving at your own pace. Allowing you to give voice to all parts of yourself, including the healthy and unhealthy parts. Those who work with me in this way often gain a sense of being more integrated. You can learn to trust your gut, stop gaslighting yourself, be better able to articulate your feelings, and improve your mental, emotional, relational, and physical health well-being.

My job is to offer you a safe place to be seen, soothed, and secure as you cultivate a healthier relationship within. I specialize in life transitions, grief, women’s issues, and spiritual abuse. I have served in leadership roles in ministry that promoted vulnerable and safe community-building and blog about the intersection of mental wellness and faith. With your consent, I can offer faith based approaches including Christian meditation with S.T.Y.L.E. and Transformational Prayer.

Schedule an appointment by requesting me, Joy, at The Peacemaker Center where I am an associate therapist. I work with clients in person in Downingtown, Kennett Square, and New Holland, and via telehealth anywhere in Pennsylvania.

We are all born into the world looking for someone looking for us,
. . . we remain in this mode of searching for the rest of our lives.”
